Deuteronomy 28:64 Then the Lord will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other. There you will worship other gods—gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.
this verse is at the end of a very long list of curses that built upon each other for being disobedient. In context...it is a call to obey all the commands that YHVH has given to the children of Israel.
Most people at this point would say...I'm not Jewish. Well maybe not but the jews are from the tribe of Judah. One of the 12 tribes. Actually there are more than just Judah there but i would say that the "vast majority" of Israel are still scattered...and don't even know it.
As Israel sinned and refused to obey Yah's commands, they were punished more and more until eventually they were driven as far as Missouri, Wisconsin, Texas, California and right where you are today!
What do you suppose the correct responce to being scattered is?
How should we feel?
Is this really blessing?
Has YHVH changed His mind and wishes to just bless us in the exile?
Does He no longer wish to bless us as He stated at the beginning of Chapter 28?
Good questions we never really ask as we do not even realize that we belong somewhere else. We have a home that we have been kicked out of and our desire should be the following:
- Beg YHVH to forgive us for sinning through our disobedience.
- Return to following His laws and instructions....you know the ones He said will bring the blessing. Part of which is Living in the Land close to His presence.
- Teach our children to do the same
- Etc etc
There is a "procedure" to return to the blessings once punished which is not part of this writing but should be what EVERYONE should be desiring to know. Instead we are seeking Yah to bless us out here "in our punishment".
Doesn't that sound even a little crazy to you? Imagine your child doing something horrible and is being punished and you are very upset. Should that child use that moment to ask if he can have a car? Is this the right time to ask dad for some money to go to the movies tonight?
Of course that would be foolish, but we are doing exactly that. Yah please give us the power to cast out demons and to heal the sick.Yah give me more money so i can have more "stuff". Yah heal my sick child. Of course we can ask...but it must be a way that acknowledges the punishment and requests mercy. We cannot demand for the blessing He promised while we are in our punishment.
When He answers any of our requests it is not because we deserve it or even have earned it by obedience to the Torah.
While we are out here in exile, it is 100% a matter of mercy and His love for us that we get anything!
Beg to have YHVH end the judgement! Beg Him to forgive us. Beg him for anything you might need because you have ZERO rights to anything. You are in Exile! You are being punished! That is why you are not at home in Israel. He owes us nothing but to keep His promises. And if we look for the formula to return back to His blessings and seek that earnestly He will HAVE TO keep His promise and return us to the land and the blessings will be commanded.
Don't make the mistake of expecting to change the meaning of YHVH's definition of what He said is "blessing". Most of us never knew we are outside of His blessing and about as far toward the cursings as you can go.
Coming soon...how do we return to the blessings?
